Third Grade Students Create to Learn.

Above a student shows his
rectangular prism.
Below students are busy creating
cubes and square pyramids.
Top right-2 students teamed up to
create an amazing
3 dimensional figure.
Bottom right- a student made a large
square pyramid.
Third grade students, with the help of Mrs. Larsen, explored 3 dimensional figures this week.  First they identified attributes of different shapes and studied them.  Then they put what they learned to the test by creating 3 dimensional shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows.  They started by creating shapes that they have been learning about like cubes, pyramids, and prisms.  But soon creativity took over and many students combined shapes to make new creations.  Great job everyone!
