Each winter students in fifth grade are welcomed to represent Macdonough School as members of the school basketball team.The Macdonough students play against each of the other elementary schools in the city. The team is being coached by third grade teacher, Miss Teresa Morello.

Along with the basketball team, Macdonough School also fields a cheerleading squad comprised of fourth and fifth grade students. The cheerleaders are coached by Miss Allison Monarca, a second grade teacher at Macdonough School.
